 Expensive, slow to move and fire and often ineffective, Cannon were hugely desirable on the battlefield if only due to their huge effect on the morale of the enemy and the reassurance they gave to their own side.  Victory was by no means certain if one army fielded lots of cannon but by golly it helped!
